- Notes
- Tape went to the village to teach the members the skills of building a fuel efficient stove. When she arrived there, she found the members waiting at the meeting place who happily welcomed her to the village.
They went to madam Fatima’ s home and began preparing the materials for building the stove. Together they began collecting dirt from the anthill while taking it back to the compound near the kitchen. Tape with the help of two young men began measuring basins of dirt while mixing it with grass and then sprinkled water all over it.
Together they began stamping the dirt while singing until it began soft and ready for stove building. Tape and the two young men entered the kitchen and began building the stove step by step while explaining the whole process to the other members who were standing aside. This was important because most members had just joined the program lessons and didn’t know how the stove was built.
Later when the stove was complete, tape went to the homes where the members had previously tried to build stoves on their own and made some corrections. Although they tried building stoves on their own, some steps were not clearly mastered such as taking measurements on the floor and in between the saucepans.
Tape explained to them how it was supposed to be done. She also checked on the houses and encouraged them to continue smearing their houses since it was one of the requirements needed before one gets a fuel efficient stove in their kitchens. She thanked all the members for participating in the program activities and wished them a happy healthy life.
