Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa to teach about parenting( good and bad parenting). The community was happy and had already gathered. They welcomed Diana. The chairman thanked Kibo for not getting tired of them. He encouraged the community not to get tired of attending the meeting. Diana thanked them for keeping time and leaving everything they were doing to attend the meeting. She took them through a recap of the previous lesson about parenting. Micheal said that loving children makes them trust their parents. Margret also added that parents have to listen to their children, they have to avoid threats. Diana thanked them for their beautiful answers She introduced the lesson of the day which was good and bad parenting. Mbeiza said bad parenting is beating the children, abusing them, not feeding them. Diana thanked her for her good answers. Diana taught them that, bad parenting involves verbal and physical abuse, which involves abusing, beating children, it also involves emotional neglect, not minding about the children’s thoughts, physical neglect, leaving the children without any one attending to them. Good parenting involves a lot of work. Parents have to concentrate a lot in bringing up their children. They should compliment them whenever they do something good. Couples should also compliment themselves before their children. Parents should help their children to develop social skills for example sharing, giving feed back, help them to develop resilience and perseverance so that they can suit in any environment. Diana also taught that parents should stay in control of their emotions and not shout at their children all the time. Parents should respect one another before the children. The parents should get to know how their children communicate. They should avoid insulting one another before the children. The community was so excited as most of them kept giving examples of their families most especially Mpata one of the members, said they were really badly off, but with these lessons there village of Bulyowa will greatly change. Diana thanked the community for attending the lesson. The community left happy and promised to come early next time.
