Notes
Diana and Ida went to Bukudhumira to teach about love in the family. We got when the community had gathered waiting for us. The community was happy to receive us. They said when they see us frequently visiting them, they feel happy. The secretary Swaibu thanked the Kibo staff for being there for them. Ida and Diana thanked the community for receiving them. Ida and Diana encouraged them to always be there for the lessons and to put them into practice. Ida took them through a recap of the previous lesson about parenting, Sarah said that parenting involves loving the children, caring for them, she also said that parents should not undress before their children and should not neglect the children. Ida thanked Sarah and told the group to clap for her. Diana thanked everyone for being active in the lesson. She introduced the lesson of the day which was love in the family. She asked them what they perceive by the word love in the family, Sumaya said that, it is the relationship the the family has in their family. Swaibu, said that it is the unity of husband, wife and children. Diana thanked them for their beautiful answers. Diana define love in the family as, the love that unites the families, communities and nations. In the Bible John 3:34, it says that “love one another as I have loved you”. Diana added on that, on this phrase hangs every success of every marriage. Every one should love their families with all their hearts, souls and mind. Love is the fire that initiates friendship, tolerance and respect. Diana also added that love is the source that overcomes divisiveness and hate. Diana encouraged the community to embrace love, because it builds deep and loving families. It is the responsibility of every parent to hold their families together, this breeds healthy environments for both the parents and the children. Ida added on that, husbands should help their wives in some domestic chores, this will make their wives happy including the children. She also told them that they should respect one another and avoid quarreling before children. Ida taught that in the family it should be the wall and parents who should know the secrets in the house, she meant that, husbands and wives should not take their secrets or problems to everyone. The community kept asking questions like should a man tell his wife where he is going? Ida answered telling them that, it is a sign of love and respect when both parties tell their spouses where they are going. The community was too excited on the way the community empowerment program is changing and blessing their community. They kept telling us not to get tired of them, because they need these lessons. Diana and Ida encouraged them that Kibo loves them and will continue with the lessons.
