Ida went to Maliga to continue teaching about early marriage and Bride price.
She asked the community to tell her some of the reasons as to why parents demand their in-laws to pay bride price.
David said that poverty has contributed a lot in forcing parents to sell their daughters.
Kibirige said that parents not knowing the value of education has also played a big part in selling of a girl child.
Karim said that religious entities (Islam) they are allowed to marry off girls at the age of twelve. We pray that God touches the Muslim communities to stop that practice.
Mutesi said that they want to get money from their daughters before they die that’s why they sell them before they are ready.
Ida thanked them for the good answers and encouraged them to always think of their children’s future. You might think death is near, and then you live to see your daughter suffer and die.
Let’s give our children the best we can and that is EDUCATION.
