- Notes
- Harriet made a surprise visit to this village the goal was to assess the level of sustainability of the stove program. She walked home to home while checking on the stove usage . She walked through 20 homes which had stoves. She found when the majority were using their stoves except three women who were using fuel efficient stoves along side the three stones. This forced her to threaten them to destroy their stoves because she felt that they did not value them. One of them Nangobi came before Harriet and asked her to pardon them that the three stones are used by the children Incase the adults are not around because they don’t want them to spoil their stoves which they value so much. Harriet retaught these three ladies and reminded them that the fuel efficient stove is meant to improve on the health of both adults and children. She also told them that it is more dangerous for a child to cook on open flames than an adult and it is safer for children to cook on fuel efficient stoves. They thanked Harriet for sensitising them again , immediately after the lesson each one of them rushed into the kitchen and took out the three stones and vowed never to use them again.
