Notes
Tom made a visit to Kisimu village to carry out the baseline survey with the village leaders. When he arrived, he found the chairman and the committee members at the chairman’s place. As they started the discussion about it starting the evaluation, the chairman got a call from one of the village members that the village secretary as well as the vht of the village had passed away from busolwe health center. This was a hard time for the entire village leadership. At that time the chairman suggested and requested to go to the hospital to help bring the body back to the village. The other committee members also requested that the evaluation to be postponed for another day as they felt it would be hard for them to carry out the work when one of their colleagues has passed away. Tom agreed to postpone the evaluation till the 14th. Tom on his way out of the village, moved he moved in a small section of the village to check on the facility standards. He saw that four of the latrines he visited had standing structures but had collapsed floors. He talked to one of the residents in one home who said his latrine floor collapsed because of the heavy rains. He said he was going to get a new latrine. Tom left for jinja
