- Notes
- This visit was to follow up on sanitation improvements made in the village having failed to walk in the village during the previous visit due to the heavy rains that poured in the village that day making it hard to walk home to home. Martin kibuka as reported many times spares some time over the weekend to encourage his fellow residents to improve on their sanitation and hygiene standards and this has helped to speed up the sanitation program in the village. This has also helped WASH to save trips to Kitukiro village that would be done on a weekly basis. Alex made this visit back to Kitukiro to follow up on the new facilities and standards that have to be met by all residents in the village. Majority of the village residents in the village have greatly improved according to Martins and the chairman reports. For example, Micheal and Mboira, Ronald, John and Paul who never had pit latrines before completed digging new pit latrines and are being encouraged to roof those new pit latrines. A number of new rubbish pits, dish racks and kitchens have been put in place in majority of the homes. Alex had gone to asses the sanitation improvements in the village before making a decision to conduct a second evaluation to determine the sanitation and hygiene status of the village. Unfortunately the car that Alex was using got a breakdown before reaching the village and therefore there was nothing to do but figure out myself to get back to Jinja. However the chairman of the village and the sanitation proceeded moving home to home emphasizing the point of having a clean home and make sure all have the required sanitation facilities in their homes.
