- Ida went to Bukudhumira to teach about discipline in children. She asked Swaibu Abiriga to open the meeting with a prayer. Ida asked the community members to tell her some ways they discipline their children in their homes. Wakoli said that he denies his children food when they misbehave. Zaituna said that she talks to them in a friendly manner and Suula said that she beats them and explain to them the reason as to why she beat them. Sam said he beats their mother too because it’s her responsibility to teach the children discipline. Ida thanked the members for being open to share their thoughts. She told them beating is not bad as long as it’s not torturing. She also told them the best discipline teacher is ourselves! Let’s try to be the examples of good discipline. There’s no way you can tell a child to do something he/ she has never seen you do. Our children learn best by watching what we do and how we behave.
