Notes
Jeska and Harriet went to Butabira village to practically teach the community how to build stoves. They built the first demonstration stove in this community. The community had already chosen Beth as the first member to get a demonstration stove because she is one of the active members in the group. During the activity so many people wanted to come attend and watch since it was the first stove to be built in their village but kibo staff limited the number to 10 because they did not want to violate the standards operating procedures that may lead to spread of covid 19. Even these participants were asked to social distance and wear their masks. More men attended the lesson compared to women which indicated that men learnt the challenges the family goes through as they cook on the traditional three stone fire so they were very much interested in the program that may help them to overcome those challenges.Men participated in collecting materials for building stoves like termite dirt, water , banana stems among others. The community agreed to meet again and chose another participant to get the next stove when kibo comes back to their village. They also requested kibo staff to give them a chance to participate some how in mixing the dirt and stamping it because they were interested in learning how to build stoves and they believe that practice makes perfect.
