Notes
Ituba Namalowe: Irene went to Ituba to meet with the local leaders to discuss on how health lessons will be conducted after the lockdown following the guidelines of COVID-19. The meeting started with a communication from the chairman who thanked the community members for taking care of their families and following the Government’s guidelines on Covid because at least they had not reported and cases admitted or who have died of Covid, so he is giving the credit to the community members for being vigilant. He then welcomed Irene the health education representative to say a word to the members. Irene thanked the members for accepting kibo to work in their village, and also for working hand in hand with the Government to help promote the guidelines on COVID-19 and to further still advise the community to take the measures seriously because COVID-19 is still around and the vaccines may take some time to reach them. On addition to that Irene together with the members discussed on how to conduct health lessons following the Government guidelines. The members agreed on making sure the members don’t go beyond 20 per meeting, wear masks, and have a hand washing stand during the meeting. Further still Irene discussed with the members on Home Based care for Covid patients taking the VHTs and LCs on how to help community members take care of the patients with out affecting the whole family and community as well. Among the things discussed included isolation, medication, diet, exercise, and also physiological support among others. After the meeting Irene visited a few pregnant mothers that the VHT has been following up on for antenatal appointments, hygiene and birth preparedness. One of the mothers has greatly improved in her hygiene though with a few things lacking like wearing shoes and change of clothes due to her financial stand but she has at least improved on cleanliness through the efforts of health education follow ups.
