Enock went to this community to continue following up on sanitation improvements, encouraging the homes which are lagging behind, emphasize, assess and evaluate the progress of sanitation improvements in the community. He also taught and guided homes which just completed digging new pit latrine holes how to construct strong foundation base for latrines to withstand through the heavy rainfall and strong hail storms which mostly affect latrine facilities built. As we walked around the we also continued encouraging the and guiding the homes on the trading centre to construct hand washing stands and reminded them on the core importance of hand washing with soap. The homes which are lagging behind gave us about 2 weeks to complete the latrines structures. The homes which lost latrine structures where also encouraged to construct a roof on the latrine structure. There has been a great improvement in latrine coverage compared to the time we started on this community. The chairman and VHTs are so appreciative for the great work the kibo program has done in this community. They are all testifying how some homes for very many years didn’t have latrines and now moved on to construct good facilities. They also noticed good behavioral change where people who have lost latrines due to heavy rainfall they have taken the initiative to rebuild and construct good facilities.
