Notes
Harriet made a surprise visit to this village and walked around over 26 homes inspecting on stove usage, smearing of the home facilities and firewood storages. She observed that most participants used their stoves on daily basis though two homes had the three stones fire alongside the stoves. They claimed that those traditional three stones were used by their children who were not familiar with cooking on the stove. Harriet reminded those women the dangers of cooking on open flames to the healthy of the children. She also told them to teach their children to cook on fuel efficient stoves. Harriet also encouraged her to take out the traditional three stones out of the kitchen to avoid children being tempted to cook on them. It was also observed that some participants were lagging behind as far as smearing is concerned and were encouraged to so . Also some participants still lacked firewood storages and Harriet reminded them to put them in place to enable them store firewood that would be used during time of scarcity. One of the participants called Hausi promised to volunteer to teach those who didn’t know how to construct firewood storages how best to do it.
