Notes
Enock and Steven made a visit to open on the broken borehole and find out the what exactly the borehole needs to be fixed so that the community is able to enjoy clean water. When we reached the community, we meet with the district hand pump mechanic who has been working with this community to repair the borehole whenever it breaks down. The hand pump mechanic gave us the actual report before even opening the broken borehole to know the parts which are broken and need to be fixed. We wrote down all the details of the broken borehole before heading to the meeting to share with all the local leaders who will have to inform all the community residents about the problem of their broken borehole and know how much they need to contribute as a community. After we walked around some homes to check on the progress of sanitation improvements in homes, where we saw some homes digging new pits, the homes around the trading centre have constructed good latrine and shower areas with bricks, cement and sand as well as good firm foundation made of concrete slabs. There are also many rubbish pits constructed, dish racks and the next visit I encouraged the local leaders to come for hand washing triggering lessons and learn how to construct the stand. During the meeting the chairman welcomed the idea of working together to transform their village as well as contributing towards repairing their broken well. The local leaders are willing to continue monitoring, encouraging and guiding their fellow residents to construct sustainable facilities. The main reasons as to why we couldn’t have a big general meeting with all the residents it’s that the government during this lockdown allowed only a maximums 20 people. Steven encouraged the leaders to also be United, urged them to continue constructing money for repairing the borehole so that kibo will also add money toward the rehabilitation of their broken borehole. He also told them about that the borehole will need new 16 stainless pipes and new cylinder as well as two stainless rods.
