Notes
Harriet followed up on stove building, stove usage and smearing of the home facilities. Most participants with dry stoves were cooking on them on daily basis. The community tried to build a stove on their own that Harriet looked at, she worked with the community to remove banana stems and found when the participants had forgotten to put a banana stem that vents out smoke thus it will limit its effectiveness. Harriet struggle and fixed the vent since the stove was not yet dry. She also explained to them their mistakes and referred them to the complete stoves as they build stoves on their own to avoid mistakes. The challenge with this village most women passively attend , they feel they can learn how to build stoves and they have left it to a few men to lead the program.Harriet encouraged them to participate because this program directly benefit them. As far as smearing is concerned some homes are not smeared and Harriet encouraged the women to take lead in smearing their home facilities to enable them look neat and last longer. One of the women called Akello Rose volunteered to take lead in smearing. Harriet also asked the participants who had got stoves to construct in their kitchens the firewood risen stands to store firewood that they can use during time of scarcity.
