Notes
Irene went to Kalitumba to teach about sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS Irene reached Kalitumba before the meeting time so she visited a few homes checking on the general hygiene of the homes. The meeting started with a word from the chairperson who thanked KIbo for the good work they have done for their village. Irene was welcomed to say a word to the members. She started with a review of the previous meeting, and then introduced the lesson of the day. Irene explained to the members the difference between HIV/AIDS and the other curable sexually transmitted infections, giving detailed information on how they are transmitted spread, prevention and life long treatment for HIV/ AIDS. After the discussion members asked questions some of which women complained that their men have fear of knowing their HIV status because of their polygamous lifestyle which puts their wives in danger of acquiring the diseases. Irene had to further still talk about stigma and stigmatization that causes the delays to seeking medical care on various diseases which leads to complications and early death even when solutions to the disease would be got had it been handled earlier. She also advised them on the benefits of one knowing their health status.
