Notes
Jessica and Suzan went to the village to build the first demonstration stove. They got there on time and they found some community members just coming back from their gardens because it had rained in the previous night. Later after some minutes the members gathered and started organizing the materials for building the stove. Being the first demonstration stove, it was going to be built at the center near the meeting place where everybody would easily come and watch without walking long distances. One of the elderly leaders and the active members mzee konsolate was the first members going to receive the first stove since he was selected by the community. Kibo staff requested the members to participate in some steps such as fetching the dirt from the anthill while carrying it outside near the kitchen compound which they did together. The measurements were carried out by Kibo staff while they explained each step to the community and also cut and leveled the banana stems while they watched. Together they stamped the dirt while singing until it got ready and it was carried inside the kitchen. Kibo staff began building the stove step by step as they requested the members to step aside and watch while they explained each step to the members. The entire stove building process went on smoothly until it was complete. Kibo staff requested the owner of the kitchen not to take out the banana stems until it made one week to avoid collapsing. The members were so grateful for the lessons taught and promised to mobilize other members to participate and attend the next coming meeting. Kibo staff thanked each person for coming and the meeting came to an end.
