Notes
Harriet and Jeska went to Batabira to community to continue teaching the participants how to practically build stoves. This time their target was to guide participants as they try to build stoves on their own. This was intended to ensure that they master the process of building stoves because practice makes perfect. They found when the participants had tried to build a stove on their own two days back, they looked at it but it was poorly done. They had forgotten to put banana stems for the vent and oxygen. This would affect the effectiveness of the stove since fire would hardly light or vent out smoke.Kibo staff explained to them their mistake and they all agreed to dismantle the stove and build a new one. Kibo staff thanked the participants for having tried because it is one way of perfecting their skill. The community started by mixing the dirt and grass at a ratio of two to one but did it the opposite. Kibo staff corrected them. They worked together to stamp the dirt, the community perfectly measured banana stems whereby one Male participants called Kasimu took the lead. At the end of the day one stove was successfully built with participation from the community. This was done as they explained the whole process to enable them learn or to avoid making mistakes as they build stoves. The community thanked kibo for continuous teaching them despite the mistakes they have always done. They also agreed that they will build another stove prior KIbo’s next visit so that in case it was poorly done it can be corrected.
