Health lesson 14: Domestic Violence
Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa A community to teach domestic violence lesson. We found people when they had gathered, although some had gone for a burial, Diana found a reasonable number to begin with. The chairman thanked the community for attending despite the trials they are facing. He encouraged them to cast their fears to God. He thanked Kibo for giving them the community empowerment program, which has greatly transformed them as a community of Bulyowa. He later welcomed Diana. Diana started from where she had ended with the community on the lesson of Domestic violence. Everyone was eager to participate in this lesson. Diana thanked everyone for keeping time and sent her sympathies to the bereaved family. She requested them to continue from where they had stopped. Mpata one of the community members said that domestic violence is rampant in their community, he is excited that soon they will have a relief in their community since this lesson has been introduced to them. He says that mistrust from women has caused a lot of domestic violence in their community. Mbeiza also said that men are lying, they are too jealousy and this also is a great cause to domestic violence. Bwiire said that women make them unhappy, because they don’t thank them when they are bought gifts. Margret also responded that men buy things they don’t want for example oversize panties, this caused a lot of laughter from the rest of the community members. Diana responded to Margret that, when they receive the oversized panties, they should thank the men for their efforts, and then put on their panties before their husbands, the men will also realize the need to move with their wives to choose panties and clothes for them selves. Diana told them that disrespect is also another cause of domestic violence, men want to be the heads, and there are women who also want to be heads, which makes the men and women disagree, causing domestic violence. Diana went on with the lesson, and told the community she will continue from there in the next visit. The chairman thanked everyone for attending and requested the community to keep time and come with their masks on. Point to note: Domestic violence is a lesson that needs to be handled not in a rush so that both parties(men and women) come into a consensus.
