Notes
Harriet and Alex Bamulumbye went to Nawampiti village to follow up on stove building progress, smearing of the home facilities as well as construction of firewood storage stands. They met the healthy and safe kitchen program committee leaders who told them that the stove building process is going on though the process has been affected by the rainy season that has forced most people to spend much time in their gardens thus little participation. Harriet advised them to change their timetable as they work on their own may be to evenings when they have finished garden work . The chairperson for the Healthy and safe kitchen program in Nawampiti Mr. Waiswa said that they will have a meeting with the community members and discuss how to move on. Kibo staff asked them to lead them to the homes of the participants especially the lower section to see what has been done so far as far as the healthy and safe kitchen program is concerned. Interestingly they found when most people had smeared their home facilities as well well as found others smearing. However the challenges was that some participants only smeared the outside walls and left the inside walls an attended too.Harriet and Alex B. Advised the leaders not to build stoves in such homes before their smear the entire walls of their facilities because once they get stoves they will relax to smear the entire facilities. They also reminded the owners of such homes about the importance of smearing their home facilities. Also the community had built one stove on their own that kibo staff looked at and it was fairly done.Kibo staff thanked them for having tried , asked them to always look at complete stoves for guidance as they build stoves on their own. They asked them to keep on practicing because practice makes perfect. Also as far firewood storage is concerned most people did not have them in place, some had pilled firewood in corners of their kitchens. Kibo staff taught them on the importance of constructing firewood storage stand and stock them with firewood that they can use during the time of scarcity or rainy seasons. Also firewood storages help the kitchen to look neat and organized other than having firewood scattered all the kitchen. The participants promised to improve on their weak areas.

They encouraged Naigaga to remove all the wood that was stocked on a weak stand to avoid it falling on some family members that may cause accidends. They advised her to use strong poles as she constructs the firewood storage stands.
