Notes
Jeska went to Kazimba kungira village to continue following up on stove building, smearing and construction of firewood storages. This was a surprise visit to see whether participants implemented what was discussed during the previous visit. She intentionally visited homes that had not smeared their home facilities with some stoves that had cracks. Interestingly most of those homes had smeared their home facilities. A case in point is Alexander’s stoves that had cracked due to poor maintenance and this time is looked neat and clean after being smeared. Also some homes that lacked firewood storage stands had put them in place though some lacked firewood, Jeska encouraged them to stock them with wood that will use during scarcity. The participants also told her that this time the women were also active in the program whereby Akello Rose was the one in charge of smearing and follow up to ensure that every home facilities are well smeared. They also told her that they had planned to build a stove on their own on Monday 13/09/2021. Unfortunately that day they had a funeral in the nearby village that compelled most members to go for the funeral. They assured Jeska that they feel that they have mastered the skill and they can build stoves on their own. They also suggested that they plan to start marketing their skill outside the community to earn some money since some people in their community seem not to be interested. Jeska encouraged them to go a head especially when they finish building stoves for all the participants who have worked with them in the program.

Jeska looking at one of the newly constructed firewood stand that need to be stocked with enough firewood that the home can use during the time of scarcity especially during the rainy season. She encouraged the family members to look for more wet wood, stock it there, the heat will help to dry them so that they can use them later.

On the side there is a stove that the children also gambled to build on their own meaning that the children were also learning something from Kibo’s program.
