Notes
Alex appreciated the good work done by the community to complete the construction of the new wall fence at the new borehole in Butabira. This was completed in absence of Alex having guided the builder and committee leaders two weeks ago. They indeed tried to do a good job and decided to do a good job mostly at the area where people stand while pumping the well, it guides someone to pump the well with care and prevent the borehole from breaking down easily. In this way the bearings will take long before they wear out and also the borehole handle is kept in the required position while pumping. This is design is being admired and likened by many people who visit from other places and villages. The person who did job is being consulted by many people to also go and do the same in the neighboring villages. Alex also met with the water and sanitation committee members at the borehole to discuss about when to conduct commissioning of the borehole and all agreed to have it done sometime next month. Also the water user committee was encouraged to keep an active borehole account with money to meet any future repairs. They were encouraged to quickly have a community meeting to encourage all water users to contribute money towards their boreholes future repairs. A meeting first involving all leaders will be scheduled on Friday 24/09/2021 to discuss more about how to engage their village to maintain a safe water chain. Together they reviewed their roles and responsibilities towards their borehole and were encouraged to remain active at all times and encouraging all people in the village to be proactive towards maintaining their homes. The village leader Mr. Buyinza Patrick was encouraged to always use the village meetings and funerals to make announcements to all people to keep their homes clean and take good care of their wells. The water user committee together with the leaders agreed to have a commissioning of their new borehole by kibo group sometime next month and will meet to plan on exact date and communicate with Alex. This was most likely the last visit to the village by Alex talking about water and sanitation activities until may be the day of the commissioning of their new well. All the leaders have been encouraged by Alex to remain active even when kibo group staff is not active on ground and keep spreading kibo ideas to other villages.

21552 Alex W test pumps the new borehole in Butabira after the completion of the new wall borehole fence.
21555 Alex W held a meeting with the community leaders at the new borehole site in Butabira to remind them of their roles and responsibilities towards ensuring the village sanitation and hygiene standards and keeping a safe water chain.
21558 A lot of creative ideas were put at the area where people stand to pump the well since the main cause of borehole break downs is as a result of poor handling and pumping of the well. Now at this new well in Butabira, people are able to pump their well as required to prevent it from breaking down easily.
