To educate the participants to always report sex abuse cases to the law makes other than negotiating with the victims.
Notes
Purpose of the visit, Manuela went to this village to teach about Rape and Defilement. This lesson was intended to educate the participants to stop negotiating with the sex abuses victims but make them face the law so that such cases can come to an end in the community. Manuela was in Bulyowa village, she taught 47 people including some youth, she taught about Rape and Defilement because it has become common problem in the community more especially during the Covid-19 lockdown, Manuela asked the participants, do you have cases of Rape and Defilement in this village? they said yes, she asked them what type of Rape do they have. They said Age related and incest for example uncles raping the children of their sisters and brothers, step fathers raping step daughters and finally step brothers and step sisters, parents marrying off their daughters to rich and old men just for money. She asked them that what happens to the victims who committed such offense, they told Manuela nothing that people fear to loss their dignities so they decide to keep quiet and that is why Rape and Defilement are common in their community. Manuela asked them that what do they think causes Rape and Defilement in their community and other communities? Alcoholism, lust among men, poverty among parents, watching pornographic more especially the youth, sleeping with children in one room and among others. Manuela told participants in Bulyowa to be careful because what they are doing or their children are doing is wrong before God and it’s against the law, Manuela went on and asked the participants that what happened to the victims who commit such offenses, they said that people don’t report told but they negotiate with the victims and they are given money or animals. Manuela told them that the more they negotiate the more the wrong doers go on committing the same sin putting the life and feature of the young ones in danger. She advised them to always report any sexual assaults to the law makers. Some participants appreciated Manuela for that lesson because some parents fear to take someone son to jail simply because they socialize together and they end up negotiating not knowing they are promoting such cases in the community which is bad. Reactions One mother said that even today her daughter is suffering in the village simply her husbands negotiated with one of the primary teacher who peregrinated her 14 year old daughters how was in primary six, she said that she tried to follow up the matter but her husbands had already taken money from the teacher was threatening to beat her up. Another woman said that her own husbands raped her daughter but her girl is not this man’s biological child, when her daughters reported the matter to her and she asked the husband if what her daughter told her is true, she when she told her husbands about that, that the man threatened to kill her daughter and told the woman never to tell anybody or else he will divorce her, so this woman decided to keep quiet and she told her daughter to go and stay with the grandmother mother. Finally, Manuela advised the participants to educate their children about the dangers of Rape and Defilement and the values of education, she advised the parents to build separate rooms for their children so that children don’t listen to what they do, she went on and told them to monitor their children’s behavior and movement. She told the chairman who was around to be serious when it comes such cases mostly among young girls, Manuela also told the parents to think about their children’s life and feature than taking bribes in exchange of sexual assault on their children, she told them to speak out to the law makers and report to the police straight away.

21747 Bulyowa village, Manuela was teaching about Rape and Defilement, she advising parents to stop negotiating with the parents of the victims in case of any child sex abuse in their community because that can lead to continuous causes of sex abuse among young children. Manuela told them to always report any child sexual abuse to the law makers so that they can seek for justice and punishment on the victims.
21756 The woman in red is called Margaret. She was advising the men around not to be like her husbands who negotiated with the teacher who peregrinated her to give him money instead of taking the case to police, she went on and said that, she tried to complain but her husbands was overwhelmed by the little money, she is so annoyed because her her daughter did not get justice and now she is suffering in the village, she even advised the fellow participants to think about their children’s future not money or gifts, because if her daughter was taken back to school she might have completed her studies. She appreciated Manuela for the lessons and she hoped that the parents in Bulyowa will adapt to the law Incase of child abuse.
21759 Bulyowa village, Muteci one of the Life Skills pupils who always attend this program was reviewing the previous lessons, she was asking the participants questions and engaging them to participate, participants were happy about the new approach that Manuela is using to teach them while involving their children too.
