Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa A, t each about the causes and solutions to school dropouts. The community had already gathered waiting for the community empowerment lessons. The chairman mr Wako welcomed the community for attending and keeping time. He went a head to thank Kibo as an organization courtesy of Community Empowerment for making them what they are today. Diana thanked them for attending the lesson and keeping time. She encouraged them not to forget their masks. Diana started by asking them the causes of school dropouts. Bwire said that hunger, long distance are some of the things that make children leave school. Mbeiza said that peer pressure also causes school dropouts. Diana thanked them for their brilliant answers. She added on, poor academic performance, teacher pupil relationship, in this some teachers can start demanding for sex from these young children most especially girls, and when they refuse they can start giving them few marks, punish them all the time. Diana told the parents to always monitor their children and escort them to school. This will help them to know how their children are behaving. It will also help them know the friends of their children. This will help curb the issue of school dropouts. Be friends with your children, this will help the parents know the secrets of their children at school and advise them accordingly. Diana told them to give breakfast to their children and also pack for them. Diana continued with the lesson. The Secretary mr. Bwire thanked Diana for the good lesson that was delivered to them with the children. He went a head to say that the problem they face as a community is that, the parents do not want any one to talk about their children. Even if they report that their children were spotted playing on the road, the parent of the child will discard the report. Diana told the community that it’s wrong to discard the report from another member. It is better a parent investigates her child before jumping into conclusions.
