Notes
Purpose of the visit, Manuela went to Naibowa village to meet with the HIV positive couple to advise them, to council and for guidance. This activity is always conducted after teaching HIV lessons. Previously, when Lorna was in this community summarizing the Topic on HIV and AIDS. Some of the participants who are Positive, requests for either Manuela or Lorna to go back and talk to them because they had a private issues that they wanted to be handled to them privately about their lives as they live positively with the virus. Manuela reached the village and found members seated waiting for her, they wanted Manuela to advise them on how they will manage stigma and how they can positively lives with the virus. Manuela , greeted them and she started by counseling them , she told them that HIV is a disease that has no cure and they need to get used with it and try to manage to live with it positively, because there is nothing to do apart from following the doctors order on how they should live with the virus, after Manuela finishing to council them, one of the client said that they are still having challenges with stigma in their community more especially the people who are not part of Life Skills lessons, Manuela responded to them saying it’s bad, they need to let go what people say about them and move on for the sake of their lives and families. She went on and told them that it can lead depression and isolation which not good for their lives, Manuela went on and told them to know that they are not the only one who are sick, there are millions of people living with HIV virus, the only thing that they should do is to take care of their themselves so that they don’t reinfect themselves, they should be faithful to one another, always go to the hospital for medication, check their CD4 count, and always treat related diseases so that their immune system remains strong. Another client said that, for him he is taking the medication but he still have some signs and symptoms, why, Manuela told him that due to different strength and weakness of Immune system, sometimes some people get changes first and others slowly so he encouraged him to continue taking the medication one day he will be okay. She even told them to stop drinking Alcohol but practice positive living. Finally Manuela advised them to take their medication in time, love one another, eat well balanced diet food, do exercise treat all related infections associate with one another and among others.
