Notes
While in the Kalalu village, Tom and a few members on the sanitation committee first moved around the village to check on some newly constructed facilities like latrines, kitchen, shower areas etc. as they moved around, one of the committee members mention of a working as a community during the weekend to construct some facilities like latrines for some of the residents who had not yet finished their latrines. He said they worked and constructed two latrines on Saturday. They termed the activity operation “wild fire” meaning no home will be left unclean or unchanged. Tom appreciated them for the commitment and interest in wanting to work and leave no home unclean. Tom also encouraged them to continue with that in the village to always engage other fellow residents without fear or favor on the issues of sanitation. In the meeting Tom read out some of the names of residents still without latrines at the request of community members. The members said those mentioned were going to be helped to make sure that they all have the required and necessary facilities for their homes. Tom also mentioned to the meeting that Kibo will be giving the village a borehole. This brought a lot of excitement in the village and residents thanked Kibo for such a great gift of life. Tom mentioned that there still steps to be taken and one of them was to continue maintaining the sanitation as well as coming to meetings especially in the next visits.
