While in Buluvu village, Tom first met with a few of the village leaders (3 health committee members; Miss Joweriya, Miss Namukose, Miss Kansime) and the chairman of the village Mr Muyangu. During the meeting, Tom asked how the village was doing in regards sanitation and hygiene.
The members reported of some homes that had lost their latrines to rains and other newly constructed permanent latrines as well. The chairman said the situation was not as bad as before kibo came to the village and he said even though some collapsed, most people have replaced them.
Tom explained to them why Kibo was back to the village. He said Kibo is still committed to improving the health Of the people through sanitation activities and he said this time it was hand washing. The members were thankful and Tom asked them to work with kibo to continue improving the village. When asked about the state of the borehole, the chairman said the borehole is still functioning and well.
Later the chairman requested Tom and Miss Kansime to visit a home at the lower section which lost their Latrine to heavy rains but have been reluctant to rebuild it. The chairman encouraged the man of the home to dig a mother pit as the old pit was damaged by rain. The man accepted and said he was going to finish the latrine in 2 weeks.
