Notes
Suzan went to the village to teach the community how to build the fuel efficient stove and follow up on the maintenance of the other program facilities. When she got there, she found the program chairperson and his team at one of the homes where they had built a fuel stove on their own. According to Gerald the chairperson, they tried to build a stove with five other active men in the previous week and now wanted to take out the banana stems and smear it. Although they tried building it, they still needed to improve on their skills because it was not well constructed especially the corners which were slightly low and bent. Suzan explained to the members while correcting their mistakes as they took out the banana stems from the stove. She went ahead encouraging them to continue practicing by participating in the stove building lessons so as to be perfect in the future. Later they walked around the village together and checked on different facilities. Suzan observed that some members had constructed new structures such as the dish racks, firewood storages inside their kitchens and smeared their buildings. Other members were found cooking on the three stones open flames because they had not got the fuel efficient stove. Suzan encouraged them to join the healthy and safe kitchens program and attend all the lessons so that they can also receive the new improved stoves. In the end, she thanked the members for attending the lessons that day and requested the committee group to mobilize the community for the next coming meeting whereby they would continue with the stove building lessons.
