Notes
Tape and Suzan went to the village to follow up on the improvements of the program facilities and continue guiding the members as they build the fuel efficient stove stoves on their own. When they reached, they found one of the participants on the way and together they went to a home where the stove building was taking place. The chairperson waiswa welcomed them and informed them how they had already built the first stove at Namulondo’s home. It was so encouraging to see that the community has improved on the stove building skills according to observations. Tape and Suzan joined the group and together they built the second stove. A few members were left to complete the stove by smoothening it with the banana stems and the rest walked with Kibo staff around the village while monitoring different facilities. Most members have greatly improved on their facilities especially smearing their houses, constructing firewood storages and the stoves well maintained. About two members were found cooking on the three stones open flames besides their new improved stoves. They reported saying that their stoves were not taking out the smoke because they were placed at a wrong wind direction. Kibo staff requested them to demolish the stoves and build another stove at a right wind direction. The community was so grateful for the lessons and also, reported that very soon after building stoves for all the members, they will begin scaling out at the neighboring villages and earn some money. Kibo staffs requested them to continue improving on all their facilities so that they lived a healthy life with their families and then left thanking them for the good work carried out so far.
