Notes
Harriet made a surprise visit to Butabira village to find out whether participants with dry stoves cook on them on daily basis as well as check on the construction of firewood storages. This time the main focus was in the lower section where the program begun from. Harriet together with Enock the chairperson of the Healthy and safe kitchen program walked to the homes of the participants to find out the program status. They walked through over 23 homes. During the follow up they found when most participants with dry stoves had started cooking on them on daily basis. Some participants had kept the traditional three stones in the kitchen though they were not cooking on them. Kibo staff encouraged them to take them out of the kitchen to avoid the family being tempted to cook on them which may expose them to dangers of open flames. It was also found out that some people did not remove ash from their stoves before lighting fire to cook the next meal and this contained smoke in the kitchen and made the kitchens to look un tidy. Kibo staff taught them about the importance of removing ash from their stoves before lighting fire to cook the next meal. Also some people whose stoves were dry and had not started cooking on them were encouraged to start cooking on them. Most homes with stoves had strong firewood storages. Some participants had stocked them with firewood while others had not yet stocked them with firewood. Harriet encouraged them to stock them with firewood which can help them to use during scarcity or rainy season.

During the home follow up on stove usage, Harriet came a cross one of the participants Zaina cooking on her stove but she had left ash pilled in the stove which caused the stove to contain smoke in the kitchen and to look un tidy. Kibo staff asked her to remove the ash from the stove and immediately after removing there was reduced smoke in the kitchen.
