Notes
Jeska and Harriet went to Butabira village to continue teaching participants/ guiding participants how to build stoves. This time they focused on the upper section of the village. They found some participants gathered at the meeting place. They had a greed to build stoves for three participants that day. The participants had already stamped the dirt for the three stoves . Kibo staff inspected the stamped dirt, unfortunately it was too watery that required to add more termite dirt to help it to some how harden because if the dirt is too watery it will be had to be put together to mold a stove. One of the participants ( Florence ) said that the participants argued a lot during the process of stamping the dirt , they did listen and respect her as she tried to remind them that they don’t need to add in more water. Harriet asked the participants to always listen, respect , guide one another because no one is perfect and it is necessary to share ideas humbly than urging. Kibo staff asked the participants to collect termite dust to add in the dirt in order to harden. There were also Two men from the lower section that is Enock and Kasimu who have now learnt how to build stoves but were not there during the process of stamping the dirt. Kibo staff requested them to always avail them selves to guide participants as they stamp the dirt to avoid mistakes. Kibo staff asked the participants to divide themselves into three groups whereby each staff joined one group and the Enock and Kasimu also joined another group. At the end of the day three stoves were successfully built by kibo staff together with the community. Then they asked the participants to construct strong firewood storage stands , stock them with firewood that they will use during scarcity. After kibo staff walked around the village to check on smearing progress and they found that most participants had smeared their home facilities. Also those ones who were lagging behind were encouraged to smear their home facilities in preparation of stoves and maintaining them.
