Notes
Chris and Alex bamulumbye went to this village to follow up on community registration and continue with lessons on community economic activities, the meeting involved mostly community leaders and plus few members ,chris decided that since the community was done with writing their constitution, he can guide them through economic activity lessons as they go on with the process of registration at the subcounty and indeed the community members chose to start up a communal savind project which has been running since last month with current capital of 380,000 shillings in savings, the days agenda was about discuss how the community would re-invest their savings however the meeting was hijacked with the issue of registering the community at the sub county, this was when Mr Otim the chairperson of the community group reported that the government’s program of parish model ( under parish model program the government of uganda has extended 100 million shillings as development funds to registered community groups in every parish), this has led to escalation of registration fees at the subcounty because every community group that wants to register is assumed to be targeting the parish model money , Mr Otim said the actual registration fee was 50,000 shillings but because of the parish model program the official at the subcounty have hiked the fees to 300,000 shillings which means the chairperson has to plead to community members to contribute more money which is giving him a hard time because community members are not willing to contribute more money . Chris’ plea to the community members to contribute more money fell on deaf ears despite the intervation of the chairman some members started leaving the meeting requesting to meet the CDO to clarify on how much is the registration fee before they can contribute any money, mr Bamulumbye Alex requested the community members remember were Kibo group got them and where they are right now, he encouraged the community members to stick to the core values of the community group which are unity and development . Chris promised to follow up the CDO and get clarity of how much is registration fee next werk, chris will also continue with lessons on economic activities.
