Prevent Ownership
For the case of the stoves program , some of the members are saying they don’t have iron sheet roofed kitchens hence them not participating in the program. Also on the borehole the committee is complaining about those members who don’t want to pay the borehole contributions , claiming the government gave them a borehole for free so why should they pay. This has been challenging for the committee and the rest of the members.

Notes
Jeska, Tape and Lorna were in this village to build the first demonstration stove. They first stopped by Namutumba and picked a Japanese lady Yumi working with JICA a Japanese organization working in Namutumba. Yumi wanted to know more about the stoves program and to witness the demonstration. They found the materials to use already at the home they were to build the stove. Jeska and Tape directed the women as they mixed the materials in preparation to build the stove. After mixing the materials, they then stumped the mixture amidst singing songs. Lorna went ahead and asked them why the participation rate was still low, as there were only 6 women and 2 men . Lovisa one of the group members said that because they all want to have iron sheet roofed kitchens then they can have a stove. They also said those who got the first stoves while the stoves program was working in Upper Nabituluntu, 2 of their stoves were not functioning as they have not used them. These members are in the lower section where the stoves program is currently working. It is therefore because of this that other members are telling them why would they participate only for their stoves not to work. Lorna, Jeska and Tape asked them whom they had reported to about their stoves not working?, they said no one. Kibo staff then told them it was their fault as they did not take responsibility to report about the status of their stoves. Also about the issue of not having iron sheets they were told as long as their kitchens are roofed whatever the material, they can participate in the program. Yumi was very happy about the way Kibo works and appreciated the opportunity to be able to see what Kibo is doing in the villages. Yumi asked Kibo staff whether she can join them again on the next visit to witness how to remove the banana stems from the built stove. Kibo staff left the village at 4:05pm.
