Maria and Irene went to Ituba Namalowe to teach about burns and scalds. The VHT welcomed everyone in the meeting and also thanked Kibo for the continuous love, he then open with a word of prayer. The chairperson together with all the members invited Maria to speak to the members. Maria thanked everyone for coming, made a review of the previous lesson which was Malaria, she encouraged members to sleep under a mosquito treated nets and also go to hospital for check up and treat as well. Maria invited Irene to speak to the members. Irene thanked everyone for coming and introduced the topic of the day as burns and scalds. The discussion started by knowing the causes of burns, how to prevent and treat burns. Sarah said that homes with traditional three stone open flames are the leading cause of burns as these can not keep the fire outside,Children and women are mostly affected by this kind of stoves,as they produce a lot of smoke which affects the health of women. Peter said that some mothers are careless on how to handle things in the kitchen, some put hot water in the open while mingling posh not knowing that they have children. Still Andrew said that some homes sell fuel as their business yet they store it inside the house not knowing that this is so dangerous to they’re health, and risking their homes on catching fire. Irene advised members to get the safe and health stoves because they are safe, save firewood, and cheap to get. She encouraged the members to build a small house a side for the business ( fuel) so that they can avoid fire brought by poor storage of fuel. Mr Magala shared how burns are locally treated; put local herbs, put dry born, put wet soil as first aid among other but members were encouraged to pour running water on the affected area immediately after being burnt and rush to hospital because this is an emergency. The meeting ended with a word of prayer from Amina.
