Notes
Suzan went to the village and followed up on the stove building progress, stove usage for those who had started cooking on them as well as smearing of the facilities. When she arrived there, she met four committee group members among them was the community VHT madam Ida with other members preparing to build a fuel efficient stove for an elderly member. Suzan began showing the participants how take good measurements before building the stove especially using the fingers while placing them between the saucepans and where the stove ends. This was important because by failing to take proper measurements, the stove can be poorly built in the end. They went ahead and built the stove step by step as Suzan guided them until it was completed. Later after Suzan walked with a few members to different homes while monitoring the stove usage and smearing of the buildings. During the visit, Suzan came across one of the active members preparing to smear her stove which had cracked together with the inside of the kitchen walls. She joined her in mixing the cow dung, ash with little added water in the basin and together they started smearing the stove until they finished it. Suzan also observed that some members were still cooking on the three stones open flames while waiting for their new improved saving stoves to dry up. She requested those with poor facilities to improve and repair them as soon as possible so as everything was uniform and looks healthy enough to live around with their families. She also requested them to go ahead and practice how to build stoves on their own until they will become perfect one day. The members thanked Kibo staff for the new ideas shared and they wished each other a happy stay.
