Notes
Harriet went to Kamudoke village to do a home to home visit to see the methods participants use to cook food and whether they have home facilities required for the program. She would base on this to introduce the program to the community as she would be able to share her findings for the community to understand how important the program is to them. She was received by one of the community leaders called Akuzasi who volunteered to walk with her through the homes of the community members. This was to act as a mobilization tool for the participants to attend the lessons. They walked through over 29 homes to act as a sample for the village. During the home to home visit , she found out that most homes had latrines, shower areas, kitchens though they were not smeared, some were leaking therefore needed to be added more roofing materials, most homes were cooking on the traditional three stones fire that produced a lot of smoke, ash and, used a lot of firewood . The participants also lacked firewood storages probably because they did not know how to construct them and their importance. It was also found out that most kitchens were so untidy with dirty utensils scattered all over that may attract flies leading to diseases. Also during the home to home visit Harriet requested the participants to attend the healthy and safe kitchens lessons to help them improve in their weak areas. Later after the home to home visit, Harriet met with the local leaders to discuss on the date , time and venue for the next meeting. They all a greed that the next meeting to take place on Monday 15th November 2021 and the community leaders committed themselves to mobilize the entire community for that meeting so that kibo staff will share her findings and teach them how to work on weak area.
