Notes
Nakazinga village, Steven kambale and Chris visited this village and linked with Mr shafic the community water mechanic to monitor the situation with the community borehole which has spent close to two years without serving the community. This visit is important for WASH program because they are able to get first hand information concerning the community which include ,number of households in the community, the problem with the borehole and mobilize the community towards solving the problem, we also get contacts from the community. While in the community Steven ,Chris and the borehole mechanic met the chairman Mr Mukose Moses, the Chairman LC2 Mr Baram shaban, the VHT Mrs namweebya madina, and the chairperson water user committee. The Chairman Mr Mukose Moses thanked Kibo group for the steps they are taking to make sure the community improves their sanitation standards and for that reason the Chairman welcomed kibo to the community. The Chairman also reported that the community has 150 households that have been getting water from the community borehole and now that it is not working, the community has resorted to drawing water from the swamp. Steven also stated that Kibo helps the community repair the borehole but the community has a part to play which includes to improve their sanitation standard in their homes. Steven and the sub county borehole mechanic embarked on the work of inspecting the borehole , they discovered that indeed the borehole is broken down because all the 14 pipes including the rodes were so rusty, after evaluating what is needed Stephen and Chris informed the chairman that they would be coming back to work in the community in the near future. Nawandyo Bulange village, Steven ,Chris and the shafic the borehole mechanic then proceeded to this village to monitor and check the community borehole which has not been working for five years now, they met the chairman Mr Mumbya Umar, the VHT mrs Nabukumba Elesi, the information officer Mr Fred Isiko,, the Chairman was very excited to see the kibo and welcomed them in the community, he said the before the borehole got spoilt, 120 household were getting water from it however now that it is no more, the community is now getting water from the swamp, when Steven and the mechanic opened the borehole , they discovered that all the 16 pipes and the rodes were so rusty and not fit to serve, even the cylinder was very rusty and needed replacement , Steven informed the chairman to start mobilizing the community members to improve their sanitation standards before they can start working in the community next year. In conclusion Steven and Chris discovered that indeed Nakazinga and Nawandyo Bulange villages neeed water , which means two borehole need to be drilled to solve the water problem in the two villages. Steven will plan to visit the villages next year when they will be meeting the community members to sensitize them what kibo and the community have to do.
