Notes
Suzan went back to the village to follow up on the reconstruction of the kitchen roofs and also to encourage the community members to begin scaling out to the neighboring villages. This was mainly because almost all the group members had received the fuel efficient stoves and about four members had not got the stoves because their kitchens were too old and planned to construct new ones. During the previous visit, Suzan found some kitchens with poor roofs and encouraged them to reconstruct them before the rains destroyed the stoves built inside. And this time when Suzan arrived, she met four committee members who agreed to first walk with her around the village while checking on the repair of the kitchen roofs and maintenance of other program facilities. On the way, Suzan observed that most members had improved on their facilities such as smearing their houses and stoves which had cracked, she also found some participants cooking on their new improved stoves. Although most buildings were improved, some kitchens needed to be smeared from the inside parts because the members mainly concentrated only on the outside parts. Kibo staff kept on encouraging them to see that they smeared both the inside and outside parts of their kitchens to avoid dust and other insects crawling inside. The kitchens also had constructed good firewood storage stands and stocked enough firewood onto them. Later after, Suzan requested the members to begin scaling out to the neighboring villages since most of them had received the firewood saving stoves. She reminded them of how they can be able to earn some money by building stoves for new members at the neighboring villages. The participants were so grateful for the new ideas shared and promised to discuss about it as a group in the coming meeting. They thanked Suzan for the visit and lessons taught that day.
