Notes
Tape went to the village to guide the participants from the upper section as they build stoves together with the participants from the lower section. When she arrived there, she went to madam Ida the VHT’s home whom she found with other participants from the lower section trying to discuss the way forward to the activity that day. Tape walked together with them to the upper section and found the members already gathered at issabirye’s home which they had already selected to receive a fuel efficient stove. Under guidance of Kibo staff, all the participants from both sections began working together such as fetching dirt from the anthill while taking it to the outside part near the kitchen. The participants from the lower section took measurements of the dirt and grass while mixing it up and then sprinkled water all over it as the others watched. This was because the first participants had learnt most skills and needed to demonstrate to the others what they had learnt. During the process,Tape encouraged the new participants to get involved in certain steps like stamping the dirt together and smearing the stove which will enable them learn faster. She also requested them to keep asking questions where they didn’t understand during stove building lessons. One stove was successfully built at issabirye’s home and the members were so grateful for the lessons which attracted more people at the upper section. Tape requested each one to see that they improved on all their home facilities especially smearing their kitchens before getting the stoves. Later they briefly visited a few homes around while monitoring different facilities and Tape observed that some kitchens and other facilities were well maintained while others needed to be repaired. She thanked everyone for coming to the lessons and wished them well.
