Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa A, to carry out assessment on the lessons of community empowerment programs. The community members were just coming back from the gardens, they were shocked to see Diana. Sarah said ‘I wish madam Diana you told us that you were coming!’ Diana responded with a smile, telling Sarah that she(Diana), did not need to alert any one, because she wanted to find them in their normal life. This is because community empowerment looks at the well being of the people in the community and it encourages them to be innovative. During the assessment Diana does not use the iPad to take pictures. This is because she wants to gain trust from the community members, since this involves entering in their houses to assess the hygiene inside and how they apply the community lessons to their daily living. Diana moved with the LC 1 chairman mr. Waiswa, Wilbur and Sabasi. On this visit Diana found out that most of the community members she visited had toilets, hand washing facilities, their children were at home doing house chores, the husbands and their wives were living in harmony with their wives. In the family of Wilbur, the wife cooked food as Wilbur was removing the Ground nuts which were drying to keep them in the house. Their home was very clean. Diana did not finish her assessment, because Bulyowa is very big, she requested the team that was moving with her to proceed to the meeting place, because some members would be there, and indeed it was true, we got when the community had already gathered. Diana will continue with the assessment in the next visit. On seeing Diana the community laughed Diana asked them why they did so, Bwire said that they were just happy. Diana encouraged them and told them that their families families were doing well, the hygiene was good, they have to make it a habit to open their windows for good aeration in their entire houses Diana also told them that during her visit she noticed that the daughters in-law and mothers in-law were not in good terms. Sabasi clapped his hands and encouraged Diana to talk about that issue. Sabasi is victim of mother and daughter in-law. Diana told them it is wrong to stay in such enemity, the mothers in-law are real mothers to the daughters in law, therefore the daughters have to treated them with respect. Diana told them that in her next visit, she will carry out assessment in the other remaining homes and then talk about this issue. They agreed because it was already late and they needed to go and see their families.
