Poultry Day 2
Notes
Ida went to Ndalike to teach about poultry lessons. She specifically taught about raising chickens. Ida told the community members to prepare the following: A drinker, feeder, vaccine, glucose a charcoal stove, charcoal, a basket and feeds. All the above things are equally important. A charcoal stove and charcoal will help warm the chics since they will not be with their mother. The vaccine will protect them from diseases like New castle and cocksidiosis . Glucose is to be given for three hours after hatching. It gives strength to the new born chics, cleans the digestive system and also produces heat in the body. A basket will be the chic house at night , remember the mother will not be there. A drinker is for water and a feeder for feeds. Mugote the VHT was happy because the lesson came at the right time when he had just got fourteen chics. He wants to be the example to the rest.
