Alex W and Alex B were in Buluvu to specifically meet with the new committee to discuss through their roles and responsibilities to help steer the again in the community. This follows a slow start to the program in this community due to a weak leadership in the community. The new committee were told that they have a long hard task ahead of them to make sure that this program picks up and runs smoothly in Buluvu village. They were told to make sure all community members are encouraged to plant trees on their own to tackle the problem of climate change in their village as witnessed by the long dry spell that affected many of the trees that were planted earlier. They were told to always mobilize all the members to attend kibo meetings and make sure they contribute when required in a way of working together. The community leaders were also told that they have to move home to home checking on all the trees still alive and encourage people to care for them and plant more trees. The MCD staff will continue to engage all people in the community to learn the values of planting trees in their homes and as well encourage the people to work together to make sure that the community is actively participating in this program more than it was in the beginning. 

Next Visit

2021-12-15 - Purpose: To go back and have another general meeting with all the community members discussing the values of tree planting and working together.

Program Success

The new committee selected recently look very capable and willing to steer this program in the community.

Program Critical Needs

The long dry season in this community affected many young trees that were planted by the community members and the community is begging for replacements of these trees.

Program Ownership

The new committee leaders together with the village leadership are very geared up again to lead this program n their village.

To plan for the next lesson to be taught to the community members following the community development program workflow and revisiting the lesson about the value of planting trees
