Notes
Harriet went to Kamudoke village to continue following up on smearing of the home facilities in preparation of stove building. She focused in the upper section of the village to bring them to speed because most participants were still lagging behind. She was joined by two program Community leaders ( Rebbeca and Betty) who volunteered to walk with her through homes to check on progress. They walked through over twenty homes , they inspected them and there was some progress. Out of the Twenty homes at least 10 homes had been smeared though most participants only smeared kitchen and left other facilities like shower areas, latrines un smeared. Harriet encouraged them to smear the remaining home facilities to enable them look neat and last longer. Also some participants had only smeared the outside walls of the kitchen and left the inside walls un attended too. Harriet encouraged them to smear the inside walls for the kitchens to look neat and uniform before they start building stoves in their kitchens. It was also nice to see some participants who had started constructing firewood storage stands to stock firewood. Also during the follow up she also observed that some kitchens that had leaking roofs were being repaired which was so encouraging. Harriet asked the committee for the Healthy and safe kitchen program to follow up with some members who were lagging behind to bring them up to speed before the stove building exercise starts. The participants thanked kibo staff for patiently and politely teaching them despite of the mistakes they make or being slow. They promised to work together, follow up with each other to improve.
