Notes
It is a new year , new month and actually new resolutions, Chris went to this community after one month break, he went to meet the leaders to follow up on the community stand on opening the community bank account, find out from them how the saving scheme is benefiting the whole community and as well introduce a new lesson on decision to receive goats then after the meeting Chris had to move to homes of community members to mobilize them for the next meeting but most importantly to lay strategies on on how to involve and mobilize the whole community to benefit from the community income generating activities. Leaders’ meeting Chris engaged 8 community leaders in the meeting who included Mr David ( chairman), Mr Otim( chairperson Mvule program), Mr Kagote ( acting secretary), Mrs Florence ( treasurer) Mr Eddy( Mobilizer), Mr Kaisu ( publicity), Mr Mutujju ( publicity ), Mrs Namukose zulaika ( vice chairperson). During the meeting the chairperson Mr Otim thanked the leaders for the cooperation they exhibited during the Christmas break, he said the community saving scheme has increased in membership and savings as well, Mr Otim reported that the community is very proud of all Kibo programs especially the Mvule program because of the message of unity and love they have been preaching, he said budumba Mvule community development program has become a role model to the neighboring communities because of the unity they displayed when many of the community members were struggling, he said a case in point of Mrs Irene who had no school fees and other scholastic materials but through the saving scheme, she was able to obtain a soft loan and her children are now at school. Otim also reported about opening community bank account and said they had a meeting on 31/12/2021 with the whole community and all the members agreed to open an account but only if their saving scheme raises one million Uganda shillings but currently they are using a saving box with padlocks on it , the treasurer is the only person with the keys, she brings it every time they are going to save. is left out because Kibo group. Chris added on by requesting the leaders to follow the data they shared with WASH program to make sure all homes are involved. Chris said the approach of sitting under tree is going to change to home to home visitations or even meeting in a member’s home , Chris said this will help take lessons to community who were not able to attend community meetings and mobilize the entire community to join the economic project.Mr Eddy welcomed this idea and said this will help them to mobilize more members to join the community project and also involve the whole community. Mr Otim (chairperson) said in order to achieve , he and other leaders will divide the community into different clusters and allocate a meeting point to each of them but also making sure every leader reaches all households allocated to them with the aim of following up on the program activities and mobilization.Meanwhile chris requested the leaders to mobilize the entire community members for the next lesson about decision to receive goats, Chris said the community has to decide whether Kibo gives them goats or supports their economic project, Chris said this is a question that needs a collective answer from the community, the chairperson mr Otim promised to mobilize the community . Home to home visits. After the meeting Chris together with Mr Eddy ( mobilizer) and were able to visit 8 homes of Mrs Irene, Mr Kagoto, Mrs Nabirye , Mr Okaisu , Mrs Mutesi Prossy, Mrs Monica, Mrs Namukose and Mrs kantono Harriet. The intention of the home visits was to mobilize the community for the next lesson and also continue building the relationship for the community members to embrace the Kibo lessons and meetings and try to mobilize the entire community to benefit from the Mvule community development program, indeed this was achieved when Chris visited Mrs Irene, she is a mother of four, the community recently gave her a soft loan through the saving scheme to send her children to school, she is so happy to see that the leaders and the Kibo staff are now visiting her home, she said she feels more committed not to miss any lesson. Chris encouraged her to mobilize other community members not to miss the next lesson because it will be very important, chris said the reason he visited her home was to know how she was leaving , the challenges that refuse her to come to the meeting and see how the community can come together and help her. Chris continued to 9 more village and the response from the community members about Chris visiting their homes was very positive and welcoming, the community was very happy that now they are welcoming the program in their homes but not under the chairman’s tree, in all these homes Chris was mobilizing the community members for the next meeting as well.
