Maria and Irene went to Nawampiti to make a review of the lessons that have been taught since the beginning of health education program in Nawampiti. Yacobo the VHT thanked the Kibo staff and Kibo as an organization for all the service’s rendered to Nawampiti village, Moses then opened the meeting with a word of prayer. Irene was invited to speak to the community members. Irene thanked the participants for coming, encouraged everyone to mobilize and inform other community members about the health education program. Then Maria was invited to say a word to the members. Maria appreciated the participants for coming, then a review of all the lessons was made and members mentioned the topics that have been taught. Sarah said that she can not for get Family planning and the benefits that were discussed, Sylvia mentioned accessing health services and what was recommended by the Kibo staff telling them to always go to hospitals in any case. Godfrey mentioned MCH, how pregnant mothers should be cared of, how to care for the new born child, among others. Maria reminded the participants their first visit (home to home visit) how it help the teachers identifying the challenges in the village, bonding with the community members, and mobilizing the community for the health education program. Further still Maria discussed the gender role in MCH together with the community members. Annet shared her experience about the neighbors who chose to leave his pregnant wife alone in the house and when the time of labor came, the mother was afraid of the night, had no money for transport to the hospital, but the Annet and her husband rendered her help ( transport to the hospital). Maria advised the men to always take up their responsibilities, support their wives to seek for antenatal care, take them to hospital while in labor, save some money for hospital use, show them love and care mostly when they are pregnant, child birth. Irene then discussed with the members the new village approach asking the chairperson and the mobilizers to mobilize the whole community for the health education program and to divid e up the village so that Kibo can reach its goal of transforming lives. The VHT and some members appreciated this approach and promised to make a meeting and divide the village, thereafter the VHT will pass the information to the Kibo staff before the day of meeting.
