Notes
Tom made a visit to kalalu village to supervise and document the pump testing process. Before he drove to the village, he made a call to the pump testing and casting team to determine their location. They mentioned to him they were stuck on a newly constructed road just 4kms from the site. Tom called the village leaders and committee members to mobilize each other to go and help the team. Tom found them and decided to re-route them through another route to the site. They made it close to the site bit a distance of about 300meters proved a total challenge. The site is located in a recently harvested cassava garden and the night before it had rained heavily so the ground was, very soft and the nature of the soil is sticky and slippery. The truck got stuck 200m away from the site. Residents and the Draco team worked together to make sure the truck was pushed out every time if was stuck by digging, pushing and using corn stalks to increase the traction of the tires of the truck on the ground. When finally the truck made it to the site, the team offloaded the pipes, the metallic concrete mold, and other parts. The chairman of the water user committee was given the assignment to make sure the everything was well taken care of which he willingly accepted. After offloaded the tools and pipes, the team had to be pushed away from the site back to the road so they can go and get gravel. The whole process of moving a distance of 300meters took about 3hours. Tom left when they were remaining with about 30meters to the road. The team had suggested to wait for another day the roads to dry abit before they can attempt to being a load of gravel to the site which Tom accepted as a good idea to avoid getting stuck again
