Notes
Chris and Alex bamulumbye were in this community ,they met 40 community members who included 11 men and 29 women, top on the agenda was updating the register of names of the community households meant to receive goats from Kibo then later follow up on how households are fulfilling the requirements to receive goats. This segment of the Mvule program is intended to prepare the community to receive the goats , it involves scrutinizing and updating the register, making sure every household has all facilities like toilets , rubbish pits, bathrooms and also every household is supposed to have planted trees. Fifty five households are slated to receive goats from Kibo however as Chris was roll calling names of community households, it was discovered that one of the most active and very vibrant community households called Byobona Christine was missing from the community constitution and register as well, this means that she is not going to receive a goat since Kibo follows the community constitution’s list of household names. Chris stated that Kibo follows the community constitution and reminded the chairperson of how he requested the final list of community household names before the budget is approved. The chairperson Mr Otim Geoffrey admitted to have made a mistake and skipped Mrs christine’s name while he was typing the constitution however he requested Kibo to adjust the budget and fix Mrs Christine because she is very active therefore if she misses a goat she will be demoralized. Alex bamulumbye advised the leaders to devise measures to that mistake because Kibo will not adjust their budget which was already approved , Alex said Kibo would like everyone community household to benefit from every income generating activity that is why the leaders where requested to mobilize everyone in the community and they came up with 55 homes which we budgeted for. Mr Kagoto (interim secretary) apologized to the community on behalf of the chairperson however he appealed to the community households not to put the burden of adjusting the budget to Kibo but since they are already 55 households, everyone should contribute 2,000 shillings , mr Kagoto said they will be able to buy a goat for Mrs Christine Meanwhile Mr Eddy opposed and said they can not contribute to buy a goat when there are some community households which are not active and do not want to save with the community saving scheme. Everyone one supported Mr Eddy’s suggestion of eliminating non active households in order to fix Mrs Christine back to the community register. Chris thanked the community households for participation and promised to move with the community leaders to households in the community to follow up on requirements to receive goats, Chris also said he will be roll calling to find out non active members , he said this will be the basis for eliminating non active households and fixing active households. Chris and Alex bamulumbye the proceeded to mr Otim Geoffrey’s home to see how he is fulfilling the requirements to receive goats, Chris and Alex found his rubbish pit being dug while his kitchen too was being smeared, Alex bamulumbye encouraged Otim con being a good example to the rest of the community. Chris will continue with discussions on updating the community register and following up on requirements to receive goats next week.
