Notes
Irene went to Nawampiti to make a review of the previous lessons and to teach about maternal, child and infant health. The meeting started with communication from the VHT who thanked all members for turning up for the health lesson, and turning up for the COVID-19 vaccination that took place over the weekend. He further still encouraged the members to keep encouraging others to come for the lessons and to always put what they have learnt into practice. Irene further still thanked the members for coming, embracing the Government programs, and encouraged the members to mobilize more members to come for the lesson. She continued with a recap of all the previous lessons taught in that village, embracing health services which the members have improved in after getting to know the different services the hospitals have to offer, Family planning benefits to the children, father, mother, children and the community as a whole, taking the members through each method how it’s used and the period of use,as most of women were happy to have a health professional explain to them these methods that were not known to them. After taking the members through the previous lessons Irene continued to teach about Maternal child and infant health,as their well-being determines the health of the next generation and community at large defining key words together with the members for clarity, discussed the causes of illness and death in mothers, babies and children, it’s here that a mother who lost her baby last month said,at times the government employs under qualified staff because if the health worker attending to her made a quick decision to refer her ,maybe her baby would have survived. Irene encouraged her not to give up going to the hospital and advised her to go to a well facilitated hospital so that they give her proper diagnosis and medical attention After the meeting Irene checked on the babies whose parents she had advised to take to the hospital during her home to home mobilization and she was pleased that they had recovered.
