Maria went to Nawandyo A, lower section to teach about Urinary tract infection ( UTI), sexually transmitted diseases(STDS) and HIV/ AIDS. The chairperson started the meeting with a word of prayer, then he thanked the community members for their turn up encouraging everyone to keep time and putting everything they learn into practice. He then invited Maria to say a word to the participants. Maria thanked all the participants for coming, she introduced the topic of the day as Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), Urinary tract infections ( UTI), HIV/AIDS. Maria defined STDs as infections that enters through sexual contact, UTI as bacteria that enters through urinary system name the urethra, bladder, and the kidneys. Then causes were shared of both “STDs”, UTI, and AIDS, Charles said that it is commonly caused by having sex with more than one person, not keeping personal hygiene etc. Signs and symptoms of STDs and UTI were discussed first; Saidah mentioned itching around the private parts, bloody discharge, pain when urinating, pain while having sex among others. Thereafter signs and symptoms for HIV/ AIDS were discussed and participants mentioned some; loss of appetite for food, on and off cough,on and off diarrhea, loss of body weight among others. But Maria advised members to go for blood check up before they rule it out on just signs, she said that only checking your blood can rule it out that you either have HIV or not. Maria advised member that if you test HIV positive, it should not be the end of your life. Go to hospital and get started on the medication so that you can live with the virus but when your healthy. Maria advised members to keep their wash rooms clean, wash their under wears, to avoid the many infections and in case you get the signs go to the hospitals soon as possible. The meeting was ended with a word of prayer.
