Notes
Ida went to Bukudhumira to continue teaching about building the chicken coops. This community sat and discussed how the chicken coop building will be conducted. They all agreed that few men should learn how to build the coops since women have a lot to deal with at home. The few men they elected will be the ones to build for the rest at a small amount of money agreed upon. The secretary Mr. Sam reported that the reason as to why they decided to choose those men is because they love their community and have demonstrated practically when they were building houses for goats. Members decided to build brick coop because termites eat tree poles, wanted to discourage cutting of trees and also wanted to build something permanent. Peter said that since they are brick makers, it’s easier to get bricks without putting in any money which will make the work easy and sustainable. Ida and Sam the Secretary then visited Nine homes encouraging members to visit each other, work together and using the sub county oftenly for help in terms of medical issues concerning poultry. Some members prefered keeping ducks to chickens because of their genuine reasons which was fine with Ida. Kibo just gives advice but not give order to what someone must rear. Others have turkeys and are doing well. Sumaya thanked Kibo for the lessons because she no longer waits for her husband to come back and buy a pen for their children since she earns some money from the eggs. Ida is impressed with Bukudhumira because they are now ready for transition. Ida is phasing out in February and has trained some ambassadors to take the lead.
