Notes
Diana went to Igerera B, to teach about parenting skills. She arrived early enough and got the chairman waiting for the community empowerment lessons. Diana started moving home to home to remind the community, about the community empowerment lessons. The community gathered and it is from here that the Chairman mr. Kamya Charles opened with a word of prayer. He thanked everyone for attending and told them that these lessons are benefiting the whole community of Igerera B. He told them that they should at least sacrifice some time for Kibo programs. The community agreed that they will try their level best to do so. The chairman welcomed Diana to take them through. Diana thanked the Chairman for being there for his people of Igerera B. Tibita James also added on saying that the chairman has been good to them. He went a head to tell the community that they should not come for incentives only, but they should come to learn so that their community becomes an informed one, like it is becoming no courtesy of Kibo programs. The community clapped their hands in agreement. Nguluka Steven told the women that they should not mind about their husbands absence, but should pay attention to whatever is being taught to them so that they can help their homes. He gave an example of a virtuous woman in the book of proverbs, who always built her house with her wisdom. He called upon women to be wise and help their husbands. Diana thanked Steven for bringing up such a beautiful insight. He told the women to pay attention to whatever is being taught to them. A wise woman cannot break her home, she will always build it with her hard work. Diana went on to teach about parenting skills. She told them that parenting starts with the parents, she told them that listening parents are the best friends to their children. When you listen to your child you get to know the ideas your child has in order to guide them through out their journey in life. Show good judgement and always stick to your rules. Diana added on that the parents should be good role models to their children, if you’re a parent who loves eating meat from the saucepans, your children will also do so, remember children imitate what they see. Diana told them that there are parents who fry meat and force some pieces out of the pan so that they pick them later and eat, the women laughed meaning that Diana was saying the truth. Namukose said that its like Diana lives in Igerera B. The community kept laughing as the discussion went on, Kamuyati said that the men in most cases leave the obligation of raising children to them, Sajja Ali said that the women are lying what about the food they buy and the school fees they pay for the children. Diana told them that both of them are good parents and should count it a blessing to raise their children. Diana told them that this lesson is interesting and she will continue with it in the next visit. The chairman thanked Diana and Kibo for the good lessons that are going to change their community. He encouraged the community to keep attending the lessons and always keep time.
